I have no sympathy whatsoever with the strenuous efforts made by Government et al to hound, persecute and otherwise demonise smokers. Heresy!! I hear you cry!! Well not really.
I cannot support a campaign to improve the nations health on the one hand (because smokers are an easy target), whilst on the other hand, the morons at Whitehall are hell bent on taking the nation further down the road into an alcholic mist of drunkeness. ( all day pub hours) This leads to domestic violence, many car deaths and injuries, the regular, weekly trashing of our city centres and other forms of vandalism. Smoking never caused this. But then stopping drinkers is much tooooooooooooo hard. But where is the pressure to put an end to it? There are token gestures only, and that is partly due the the fact that politicians can barely control their own drinking .. let alone the nations's.
So lets stop with the hypocrisy and uneven approach to socially bad habits.
For information.. I do not smoke and never have and my wife, after years of polluting the family and our house, now has to has to stand out in the rain these if she wants to smoke!
It is a disgusting, fatal and expensive habit, and I wish to Hell she would stop. But she won't, even thought it nearly killed her last year. Well next time she may not be so lucky!
